Matt has been in the field of special education for over 15 years. He has worked in the public school system as a special educator, in special education day programs for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and Emotional/Behavioral Disorders (EBD), residential treatment programs, and served as a visiting instructor in special education graduate programs at Fitchburg State University and the University of Washington.
Matt earned his M.Ed. in Moderate Disabilities from Framingham State University in Massachusetts. He subsequently completed the Behavioral Intervention in Autism (Applied Behavior Analysis) graduate certificate program through the University of Massachusetts-Lowell prior to becoming a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (Certification #1-12-10017).
Matt’s work in launching BASICS NW is a result of his objective to improve the quality of service delivery for children with autism (and related disorders) in southwest Washington State who have been traditionally underserved. He currently serves on the School Medical Autism Review Team (SMART), along with a number of active professionals in the Lewis County community, on behalf of the Lewis County Autism Coalition.
